Police charge two after stabbing at Albury

Two people have been charged following a stabbing in the State’s Riverina.

Officers attached to Murray River Police District responded around 6pm Tuesday (30 January 2024), to reports of a stabbing at a shopping centre on Smollett Street, Albury.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated a 35-year-old man at the scene with wounds to his back. He was taken to Albury Base hospital, where he remains in a stable condition.

Following inquiries, about 12.30am yesterday (Wednesday 31 January 2024), a man and woman were arrested at a home in Ryan Road, Glenroy.

They were taken to Albury Police Station.

The 31-year-old man was charged with wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, affray and use knife in a public place – cause person to fear for safety.

He was refused bail to appear in Albury Local Court today (Thursday 1 February 2024).

The 24-year-old woman was charged with affray.

She was granted conditional bail, to appear in Albury Local Court on (Wednesday 21 February 2024).
