A man and woman will appear in court today charged over an alleged armed robbery in Silverwater last week.
About 6.15pm on Thursday 13 August 2020, officers from Auburn Police Area Command were called to a convenience store on Beaconsfield Street, Silverwater, after reports a man entered the store armed with a pistol.
He allegedly approached the counter and pointed the firearm at a 20-year-old male employee while demanding money, before fleeing the scene with cash. The employee was uninjured.
A crime scene was established, and detectives commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Following inquiries, a man and woman – aged 33 and 31 – were arrested on Mary Street, Auburn, about 12.15pm yesterday (Thursday 20 August 2020).
The pair from Silverwater were taken to Auburn Police Station and each charged with robbery while armed with a dangerous weapon.
Police will allege in court that after the robbery, the man fled to a vehicle parked nearby, which was driven by the woman.
They were refused bail to appear before Burwood Local Court today (Friday 21 August 2020).
