A woman will appear in court today charged over allegedly leaving a baby girl alone in a unit in Sydney’s south west.
About 11.30am yesterday (Wednesday 22 May 2019), police were called to a unit on Fisher Street, Cabramatta, after Sheriff’s Officers found a three-month old girl in a bassinet.
No one else was home at the time.
The child was taken to Westmead Hospital for treatment and a child at risk notification was made.
About 1pm the same day, a 28-year-old woman attended the unit and was arrested.
She was taken to Fairfield Police Station and charged by detectives from the Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad with abandon child under the age of seven cause danger serious injury (DV).
Police will allege in court that the woman left the baby unattended for several hours.
The woman was refused bail to appear at Liverpool Local Court today (Thursday 23 May 2019).
Alternate care arrangements have been made for the girl.
