Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives have charged a woman following a fatal collision in Melbourne’s CBD on Saturday 24 October.
It is alleged a stolen Honda Civic sedan, driven by the woman with a female passenger onboard, struck a man driving a motorised scooter and a pedestrian at the intersection of King Street and Latrobe Street just before 7pm.
The yet to be identified motorcyclist received life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital where he tragically died.
The pedestrian, a 58-year-old Maidstone man, received minor injuries and was transported to hospital.
The stolen car was intercepted by police at the intersection of Emu Parade and Gavin Street, Jacana around 7.20pm.
The two women were arrested at the scene and hospitalised with minor injuries.
A 20-year-old Broadmeadows woman has been interviewed and charged with culpable driving causing death, reckless conduct endangering life/serious injury, theft of motor vehicle and other driving offences, and commit indictable offence whilst on bail.
She was remanded in custody overnight to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court today.
Her passenger, a 35-year-old woman of no fixed address, remains in hospital and is assisting investigators with their enquiries.
