A woman has been charged after a fatal crash in Sydney’s north-west last year.
About 11.15am (Thursday 1 December 2022), emergency services were called to Rembrandt Street, Carlingford, after reports a car had left the road and hit two teenage boys walking on the footpath.
Officers attached to Ryde Police Area Command and NSW Ambulance paramedics attended and rendered assistance; however, a 17-year-old boy died at the scene.
A second boy, also aged 17, suffered a head injury and was taken to hospital in a stable condition.
The driver of the sedan, a 90-year-old woman from Epping, suffered a leg injury and was taken to hospital, where she underwent mandatory testing.
A crime scene was established, which was forensically examined by specialist police.
Following inquiries, about 7pm yesterday (Sunday 19 March 2023), the 90-year-old woman was issued a Future Court Attendance Notice, charged with negligent driving (occasioning death) and negligent driving (no death or grievous bodily harm).
She is due to appear in Burwood Local Court on Monday 15 May 2023.
