Police charge woman after park fire in Vaucluse

A woman has been charged after allegedly starting a park fire in Sydney’s east this morning.

About 2.30am (Tuesday 4 February 2020), emergency services were called to Lighthouse Reserve at Vaucluse following reports of a fire.

NSW Fire and Rescue attended and extinguished the blaze.

Officers attached to Eastern Suburbs Police Area Command arrived a short time later and following inquiries arrested a 64-year-old woman.

She was taken to Waverley Police Station where she was charged with intentionally cause fire and be reckless as to its spread.

It is alleged the woman set alight multiple materials near tree and shrubs causing them to burn uncontrollably.

The woman has been refused bail to appear at Waverley Local Court on Tuesday 04/02/2020.
