Iggy

The ‘I’ Litter, made up of four brothers: PD Iggy, PD Ink, PD Ike and PD Ice who were recruited by SAPOL in 2012, and all had eventful careers!

PD Ike was unfortunately retired in September 2015 after developing a minor medical condition, but one which affected his ability to operate at the active level required of Police Dogs.

PD Ink was retired in 2018, at five and a half years old after being diagnosed with degenerative arthritis owing to an offender related incident in 2014.

PD Ice and his human handler, Sergeant Darryn Conroy, retired together earlier this year.

Today, PD Iggy has reached ideal retirement age and officially hangs up his lead! During his career PD Iggy was deployed 815 times, apprehending 73 offenders and clearing 153 offences.

PD Iggy will retire into the care of his handler SC1C Neil Stevenson, and like his four furry brothers, will spend his days adjusting to the life of a much loved and pampered family pet!
