Police investigate affray in Melbourne’s CBD

Melbourne Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged two people following an affray that occurred in Melbourne’s CBD last weekend.

Police were called to the intersection of Collins Street and Williams Street where a group of people were fighting just before 3.30am on Saturday 23 July.

It is alleged three people were inside a white Mazda CX3 wagon when they were involved in an altercation with five other people in the street.

The Mazda then drove away before the male driver turned back and drove at the victims.

No one was injured.

The offenders fled the scene and allegedly dumped their vehicle in a car park on Flinders Street where a man and a woman were arrested nearby.

A 30-year-old Weir Views man and a 23-year-old Docklands woman have both been charged with affray and will face the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 21 September.

Investigators are still yet to locate the male driver and are keen to speak to any witnesses or anyone with dash cam footage.
