Police investigate armed robbery at Carseldine

Detectives have charged a man and a woman after a taxi was allegedly stolen in Carseldine overnight.

Just after 7:00pm a taxi picked up a man at an address on Balcara Avenue in Carseldine.

The man was driven to a number of locations in Sandgate and Brighton, before being driven back to Carseldine.

It will be alleged when the taxi arrived at the intersection of Dorville Road and Beams Road the man produced a knife and demanded the male driver exit the vehicle.

The taxi then allegedly travelled into Brisbane City and Fortitude Valley, before travelling north again.

At around 10:15pm the vehicle crashed at the corner of Brighton Terrace and Brighton Lane, in Brighton.

Two occupants, a man and a woman, allegedly fled the vehicle, with a woman being taken into custody a short time later.

Officers responded and conducted a search of the surrounding area, locating a man in the yard of a property on Kennedy Street and taking him into custody at around 11:40pm.

A 29-year-old Bracken Ridge man has been charged with two counts of wilful damage and one count each of unlawful entry of a vehicle for committing an indictable offence, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, serious assault police and obstruct police.

A 20-year-old Windsor woman has been charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

They are both due to appear in Pine Rivers Magistrates Court on March 18.
