Police investigate armed robbery at fraud and property charges in Kin Kora, QLD

Police have charged a 28-year-old Kin Kora man following investigations into a series of offences he allegedly committed on Monday afternoon in the Gladstone area.

Police will allege that at about 5.30pm the man attended an address in Kin Kora where he threatened the occupants of the address with a machete and demanded a quantity of property.

It will further be alleged during this incident the man struck a 21-year-old man to the head several times and also punched a 36-year-old man to the head, causing minor injuries.

The 21-year-old man was the only victim requiring medical treatment, he attended the Gladstone Base Hospital where he received medical treatment for non-life threatening injuries.

Following this incident, it will be alleged the man stole a white 2002 Nissan Patrol from the address, using it to allegedly commit several fraud offences in the area prior to his apprehension at a fuel station in West Gladstone by police. Police will allege the man had pumped a quantity of fuel at the time of his apprehension without capacity to pay.

A search was conducted of the Nissan and police allegedly located a quantity of cannabis, stolen property and an illegally modified Category A air rifle.

The man was subsequently refused police bail and charged with two counts of armed robbery, assault occasioning bodily harm, common assault, two counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, three counts of stealing from dwelling, fraud, attempted fraud, stealing, possessing dangerous drugs (Cannabis) and possession of a shortened firearm.

The man appeared before the Gladstone Magistrates Court on Monday where he was remanded in custody to re-appear in court again today (October 26).
