Police investigate armed robbery at Pallarenda

Police are investigating the armed robbery of a taxi driver this afternoon in Pallarenda.

Around 4.30pm a taxi driver picked up a man and two women from a licensed venue on Charters Towers Road and was asked to drive them to Pallarenda.

When they arrived at Pallarenda, the male passenger asked the 25-year-old driver to get out of the car. When the driver refused, the man punched him in the face and a female passenger in the back seat produced a knife.

The driver got out of the car and it was driven back towards the city along Cape Pallarenda Road.

The car was located abandoned a short time later at Jezzine Barracks.

The male passenger is Aboriginal and in his mid 20s. He is described as 175cm tall with a proportionate build, brown eyes and brown hair. He was wearing black shorts, a black t-shirt with white writing on the front, a dark cap and dark runners.

One female passenger is Aboriginal and in her mid 20s. She is described as 165cm tall with a solid build, brown eyes and brown hair. She was wearing black shorts, a black singlet top, a black cap with a white logo and thongs.

The second female passenger is Aboriginal and in her early 20s. She is described as 160cm tall with a slim build, brown eyes and brown hair. She was wearing a dress and carrying a black bag.

Anyone who may have seen the trio at a licensed venue on Charters Towers Road or at The Strand is asked to contact Police.
