Hume Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating following an attempted child stealing in Tullamarine on Wednesday, 27 November.
Officers were told an unknown man driving a white van approached a girl walking along Spring Street, asking her to get in his vehicle about 5.45pm.
The victim, a 14-year-old girl, did not comply with the man’s demands and made her way to a nearby park where other people were present.
It is understood the man drove west on Spring Street before performing a U-turn and driving east on Broadmeadows Road.
When the victim arrived home, she told her mum who called police.
The man is perceived as being Middle Eastern in appearance, about 50 years old, with a thick accent and driving a white van.
Investigators have released vision and images of a white van they believe may assist with their enquiries.
The investigation remains ongoing.
