Hobsons Bay Crime Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for public assistance following an aggravated burglary which occurred in Newport earlier this month.
Officers have been told a man entered a premises on Douglas Parade, Newport about 2pm on 17 November.
Once inside he has searched the house and stolen passports and jewellery before he disturbed a female occupant who had been resting in an upstairs bedroom.
She confronted the offender who ran from the address and got into a black Nissan Navara before driving off north along Douglas Parade.
The offender is perceived to be Caucasian, in his 30s with a medium build and about 175cm tall.
At the time of the offence he was wearing a white oversized hooded jumper with thick stripes on the elbows with a number on the back and a white cap.
Investigators have released a computer generated image of a man that may be able to assist with their enquiries along with a photo of a ute seen in the area at the time.
