Transit Safety Division officers are investigating after a man was assaulted and his belongings stolen at Flinders Street Railway Station last month.
Police have been told the victim, a 36 year old Greenvale man, was approached by another man about 5.35am on Thursday 6 February.
The offender asked the victim what he was looking at before standing over him.
When the victim pushed him away, the man produced what is believed to be a knife and struck the victim hitting his bag.
He sustained no injuries
A scuffle ensued and the victim took off his shoulder bag to defend himself.
It was thrown to the floor by the offender and picked up by a second male, who fled along Flinders Street.
The first offender, along with a third man, then followed suit.
The victim tried to pursue the trio but was unable to catch up with them.
Police have released images of three men who they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries.
The first is described as Aboriginal, approximately 170 centimetres tall and in his late 30’s and was wearing a white hat, a dark ecko jumper and black sports shorts.
The second is described as Caucasian, approximately 170 centimetres tall and in his late 20’s and was wearing a White, blue and red cap, a dark jumper and dark jeans.
The third man is described as Caucasian, approximately 160 centimetres tall, stubble and in his early 40’s and was wearing a dark cap, a dark jumper and knee length shorts.
