An investigation is underway following several explosions and a fire in Gosford this afternoon.
About 2.20pm (Thursday 5 December 2024), emergency services were called to an office building on Donnison Street, Gosford, following reports of several explosions.
The building was evacuated, and no injuries have been reported as a result of the explosions.
A short time later, police were called to a separate office building on Donnison Street following reports of a fire.
At the scene, police were told that a man entered the office before allegedly lighting a fire and fleeing the scene.
A 54-year-old employee was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics for smoke inhalation. No other injuries were reported.
Police from Brisbane Water Police District – assisted by specialist resources – remain on scene and are investigating the incident.
Donnison Street remains closed in several sections near Dane Drive, Mann Street, and Baker Street, with motorists and the community urged to avoid the area.
As inquiries continue, police wish to speak with a man seen in the area at the time of the incident.
He is described as being aged in his 60s, of short stature, chubby build, wearing an all-black face covering, a black t-shirt, dark pants and shoes, and a dark cap.
