A man has been hospitalised with a non-life-threatening injury after being shot by police at Durack this afternoon (December 11)
Police were responding to a number of reported sightings of a stolen red hatchback, allegedly involved in a series of incidents this morning in Goodna and the western suburbs.
Police located the vehicle stopped at the intersection of Inala Road and Blunder Road, Durack at around 12.20pm.
It will be alleged the male passenger, armed with a knife, exited the car and entered a blue sedan, also stationary at the intersection, threatening the 56-year-old driver.
It will be further alleged that a taser and firearm were deployed by police resulting in a 28-year-old man receiving a non-life-threatening injury.
The man is being treated at the Princess Alexander Hospital under police guard.
A male officer received a non-life-threatening injury and was treated at the scene.
The 26-year-old male driver of the red hatchback was taken into custody at the scene and transported to the Richlands watch house.
The 56-year-old man was not physically injured.
Anyone who witnessed the incident at Durack or any incidents involving a red Hyundai hatchback in the western suburbs or Goodna areas today, and who haven’t already spoken to police, are asked to make contact (details below).
Anyone with relevant dashcam vision is also asked to contact police.
Police are also investigating links to alleged offences in south Brisbane and Gold Coast areas over the preceding days.
As with all police involved shootings, the incident is being investigated by the Ethical Standards Command, with oversight from the Crime and Corruption Commission.
