Police lay charges after international drug importation

A man has been charged after a search warrant in Flemington on 8 May in relation to an investigation into the importation of commercial quantities of drugs.

It is alleged that Australian Border Force officers detected a total of 3.58 kg of N,N-Dimethyltryptamine when it entered Australia in the international mail stream.

Investigators executed a search warrant at an address on Edinburgh Street in Flemington where a 48-year-old man was arrested.

He has been charged with a number of drug offences including importation of a border-controlled drug.

He was bailed to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 4 September.

Taskforce Icarus is a joint agency initiative involving Victoria Police, Australian Border Force, Australian Federal Police, and the Department of ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Affairs that targets those who seek to use the international mail and air cargo systems for criminal activity.
