A woman has been charged following a two-vehicle crash in the state’s north earlier this year.
Just after 8am on Monday 6 March 2023, officers attached to New England Police District attended the Newell Highway, about 60km north of Moree, following reports a Ford Territory and a Toyota Landcruiser had collided at a road works zone.
The front passenger in the Ford – a 28-year-old woman – was freed by emergency services after being trapped.
She was airlifted to Gold Coast Hospital with serious facial and leg injuries.
The driver, a 68-year-old woman and four passengers – aged between two and five – were treated for minor injuries and taken to Moree District Hospital for observation.
The Toyota driver – a 77-year-old women – was taken to Goondiwindi Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
A crime scene was established with specialist officers from the Crash Investigation Unit commencing an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
The 68-year-old woman attended Coonabarabran Police Station yesterday (Thursday 25 May 2023), where she was charged with:
- Dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm drive manner dangerous,
- Negligent driving,
- Drive with >7 yrs
- Drive with >4 yrs
The woman was given a future court attendance notice to appear at Moree Local Court on Monday 10 July 2023.
