Northern Territory Police have arrested 6 youths after an aggravated robbery in Alice Springs last week.
Around 11:45pm on Friday, police received reports that up to 5 youths approached a residence on Lyndavale Drive, Larapinta, armed with blunt weapons.
The youths allegedly threatened the occupants of the residence to give over their car keys before stealing a vehicle and fleeing the scene.
Officers from Operation Drina, Drone Unit, Dog Operations, Crime and general duties deployed into the area to track the vehicle.
Drone operators observed 4 offenders flee the vehicle who were quickly apprehended by police. The vehicle eventually came to a stop where the dog operations unit arrested a further 2 offenders.
Three 14-year-old males have been charged with Aggravated Robbery, Damage to Property and Unlawful Use of Motor Vehicle. They have been remanded to appear in the Alice Springs Local Court today.
A 16-year-old female has been charged with Unlawful Use of Motor Vehicle and has been bailed to appear in Alice Springs Local Court on 9 January 2024.
Two 13-year-old males will be dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act 2005.
Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Branch are investigating the incident and are calling for information on 2 outstanding males that they believe can assist with enquiries.
One male is described as on Aboriginal appearance, approximately 14-17 years old, wearing a green hooded jumper with ‘Champion’ written across the front of it, a green cap and long black pants
The second male is described as of Aboriginal appearance, approximately 12-16 years old, wearing a black hooded jumper with white writing down both sleeves, a blue cap, and long black pants with white shoes.
