Northern Territory Police have arrested a 27-year-old man and 34-year-old woman following a traffic apprehension on Oenpelli Rod, Jabiru.
Police located the vehicle around 2:40am yesterday in a declared drug area.
The 27-year-old driver was subjected to a drug saliva test which returned a positive result. He was then arrested for a drug analysis.
Police then conducted a search of the vehicle using Drug Detector Dog Astra who located seven taped packages of cannabis to the rear driver’s side cargo door. A further package of cannabis was located in the 34-year-old woman’s handbag. Police seized the cannabis which weighed 672 grams in total.
The 27-year-old man later tested positive for amphetamine.
He was charged with:
- possess schedule 2 dangerous drug – commercial quantity
- supply schedule 2 dangerous drug – commercial quantity
- drive with prohibited drug in body
- drive with child unrestrained
- drive with child in load space.
He will appear before Darwin Local Court today.
The woman was charged with:
- possess schedule 2 dangerous drug – commercial quantity
- supply schedule 2 dangerous drug – commercial quantity
- adult passenger fail to wear seatbelt.
She will appear before Maningrida Local Court on Tuesday 1 September 2020.
