Northern Territory Police have charged a 28-year-old male and 22-year-old female with drug offences after a search warrant was executed at a shed complex in Nhulunbuy yesterday.
Police executed the search warrant on the complex following reports of suspicious behaviour, where they located
- A commercial quantity of cocaine;
- A less than trafficable quantity of methamphetamine;
- Items indicative of drug supply and drug use
- A Quintrex Renegade boat that was reported stolen from Darwin in 2023
The pair were arrested at the scene and have each since been charged with the following offences;
- Supplying a schedule 1 Dangerous Drug – Commercial Quantity;
- Possessing a schedule 1 Dangerous Drug – Commercial Quantity; and
- Possessing a schedule 1 Dangerous Drug – Less than trafficable Quantity.
The female was also charged with Assault Police.
The pair appeared in Nhulunbuy Local Court today and have been further remanded to appear in Darwin next week.
Senior Sergeant Greg Jarvis said “Thank you to the community for providing critical information which led to the detection of this illegal activity and the arrest of the two offenders. The Northern Territory Police has zero tolerance for drug related activity, especially those who prey on people in remote communities.”
“Officers will continue to target those that supply, manufacture and distribute illicit substances and ensure that offenders are held fully accountable for their actions. As frontline workers we are well aware of their devastating impact on the lives of people in vulnerable communities.”
