Police locate clandestine lab in Boronia

Croydon Divisional Tasking Unit detectives have arrested two people following a warrant executed in Boronia this afternoon.

The warrant formed part of Operation Argentina, targeting commercial scale drug manufacturing and trafficking.

Police arrested the two at a Bayswater Business Centre and subsequently a warrant was executed at an address on Scoresby Road in Boronia about 2.20pm.

A search of the premises was conducted and a clandestine lab was located along with a large quantity of what is believed to be steroids, Cannabis, MDMA and prescription drugs as well as a large amount of cash.

A 28-year-old Boronia woman has been charged with trafficking and possession of a drug of dependence and bailed to appear in Ringwood Magistrates’ Court on 3 October.

A 29-year-old Boronia man has been charged with manufacturing, trafficking and possession of a drug of dependence and has been remanded to appear in Ringwood Magistrates’ Court on 16 May.

Sergeant McGibbony from the Croydon DTU said “we conservatively estimate the overall street value of the drugs we have seized today to be in the hundreds of thousands of dollars and that a well organised and complex steroid trafficking ring has been dismantled in the process.”

“This is a significant win for both Victoria Police and the community and will place a considerable dent in the illicit performance enhancing drug trade across the state of Victoria, if not the country.”
