Police make arrest after series of aggravated burglaries

Southern Metro Crime Team detectives have arrested a teenager as part of their ongoing investigation into a series of incidents across Melbourne.

Police arrested a 17-year-old Broadmeadows boy at a shopping centre on Bacchus Marsh Road, Corio earlier today.

A BMW X5, believed to have been stolen during the alleged aggravated burglary in Mernda this morning, was also recovered in the shopping centre car park.

SMCT Detectives continue to investigate the following incidents which are believed to be linked:

• An aggravated burglary on Pasadena Crescent, Bentleigh East about 8.40pm on 26 May;

• An aggravated carjacking in Anderson Street, Port Melbourne about 9pm on May 26;

• An aggravated burglary in Derrimut about 12.10am on 27 May; and

• An aggravated burglary in Avoca Avenue, Mernda about 4am this morning.

A number of offenders, who are all perceived to be of African appearance, remain outstanding as well as a Honda HR-V stolen from the Derrimut aggravated burglary.

Anyone who sights the outstanding black 2015 Honda HR-V registration 1EY3DI, is urged to contact 000 immediately.
