Police Make Arrest After South Yarra Stabbing

Stonnington Crime Investigation Unit detectives have arrested a man following a stabbing in South Yarra yesterday, 5 February.

It is alleged a 37-year-old man was approached by an unknown man on Chapel Street just before 8am and was stabbed.

The offender then ran from the scene.

The South Yarra man was transported to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Police patrolling the South Yarra area this morning located the alleged offender and arrested him at an apartment building on Surrey Road around 9am.

The 24-year-old man of no fixed address has been charged with

• Intentionally cause injury

• Possess controlled weapon

• Resist arrest

• Wilful damage of police property

• Possess traffickable quantity of methylamphetamine

He will appear before the Bail and Remand Court later today.
