Northern Territory Police have arrested a 54-year-old man in relation to a sexual assault that occurred in Leanyer early this morning.
Around 1:40am, Joint Emergency Services Communication Centre CCTV Operators observed the alleged sexual assault of a sleeping woman in the carpark of a shopping complex on Leanyer Drive.
The alleged offender attempted to leave the area, however police attended and arrested the 54-year-old man.
The offender is not believed to be known to the victim.
The victim was conveyed to Royal Darwin Hospital for medical assessment.
The alleged offender remains in custody and is expected to be charged later this evening.
