Police make arrest – Stolen motor vehicles in Knuckey Lagoon

Northern Territory Police have arrested a man after a number of vehicles were stolen from around the Greater Darwin Region overnight.

In the early hours of this morning, the 20-year-old man allegedly stole a vehicle from a residence in Woodroofe before crashing the vehicle in Knuckey Lagoon and fleeing the scene.

A short time later, he allegedly stole two more vehicles in Knuckey Lagoon, crashing both, before stealing a fourth and final vehicle in Durack that was later recovered abandoned in Adelaide River.

At 10am, the Dog Operations Unit, with assistance from Strike Force Trident and Adelaide River general duties, arrested the man at Adelaide River. He is currently at the Palmerston Regional Hospital being assessed.

Acting Superintendent Mark Bland said “Strike Force Trident detectives expect to lay numerous unlawful entry and unlawful use of a motor vehicle charges later today. Alcohol was believed to be a factor in these incidents.

“Considering at least 3 of the vehicles were crashed, it is incredibly lucky no one was injured. Police continue to urge the community to report any instances of dangerous driving through to 131 444.”
