Northern Territory Police have arrested three people in relation to an unlawful entry and stealing incident in Maningrida.
Police allege the three males unlawfully entered a business premises around 2:00am on Sunday 18 October. It is further alleged that after causing significant damage to property, they located the keys to three secured vehicles, which were then stolen and driven some distance from the community.
Shortly before 3:00am, one of the stolen vehicles crashed and rolled onto its roof; the other two vehicles collided with each other.
The offenders then allegedly returned to the community in one of the damaged vehicles and returned it to the shed from where it had been stolen. All three vehicles were damaged beyond repair.
The unlawful entry was captured on CCTV and police were able to identify and arrest the three on Monday 19 October.
An 18-year-old male has been charged with:
- Aggravated Unlawful entry
- Aggravated Unlawful Use of Motor Vehicle
- Criminal Damage
- Stealing
Two 17-year-old males have been charged with:
- Aggravated Unlawful entry
- Aggravated Unlawful Use of Motor Vehicle
- Criminal Damage
- Stealing
They were all remanded in custody to appear in Darwin Local and Darwin Youth Courts on 20 October.
