Police make arrests over unlawful entry – Palmerston

Northern Territory Police have arrested two men following an unlawful entry in Rosebery this morning.

Shortly after 5:30am, a residence on Lancewood Street was unlawfully entered and two vehicles were taken from the location. The owner woke to find both vehicles missing and reported the incident to police.

Police were deployed to the location when one of the vehicles, a Toyota Hilux, was sighted. A pursuit was engaged through Palmerston to Berry Springs, were police deployed a tyre deflation device on Cox Peninsula Road. The vehicle drove into the bushland and two offenders fled the scene.

An area was cordoned off and the Dog Operations Unit (DOU) was called for assistance.

One of the offenders, a 16-year-old male, surrendered without incident before DOU arrived. The second offender, a 21-year-old male, was arrested after being located by Patrol Dog Daly.

Both men were taken to Palmerston Watch House and are expected to be charged with property offences later today.

Watch Commander Nathan Finn said: “Police responded quickly to the incident and as a result one vehicle has been located.

“Police believe the second vehicle, a twin cab Toyota Hilux, is travelling to Wadeye and anyone who has dash-cam footage or information on the whereabouts of the vehicle is urged to contact police on 131 444. Please quote reference number 10239120.”
