Two men who are alleged to have committed a string of property offences across Alice Springs, have been arrested and charged by Strike Force Viper.
It will be alleged the men, aged 19 and 24-years-old;
- The two offenders were identified using credit cards stolen from an unlawful entry of a home in Ross.
- Unlawfully entered a property in the suburb of Ross and stole two motorbikes which they were later observed riding along Gregory Terrace between 2:30am and 4am. The motorbikes were later located abandoned in scrubland and damaged.
- Unlawfully entered and ransacked a home in the Braitling area on January 28. Offenders caused significant damage inside the home before fleeing the area with stolen credit cards.
The 24-year-old man will face additional charges of Unlawful use of motor vehicle and Drive motor vehicle while unlicensed in relation to the theft of a vehicle from a home in The Gap area on 31 January. He will also face charges of Trespass and Attempted Unlawful Entry in relation to an attempted unlawful entry at a home in The Gap on February 1.
The 24 year old was charged with;
- 2 x Unlawful entry – Dwelling
- 1 x Attempted unlawful entry – Dwelling
- 2 x Obtain benefit by deception
- 1 x Damage to property
- 1 x Stealing
- 1 x Trespass on premises
- 1 x Unlawfully use a motor vehicle
- 1 x Drive a motor vehicle while unlicensed.
He was refused bail and appeared before court on 2 February, where he was remanded in custody until 16 February.
Investigations by Strike Force Viper identified the 19-year-old man, who was arrested in a shopping centre on Hartley Street and taken back to the Alice Springs Watchhouse where he was charged with;
- 1 x Aggravated unlawful use of a motor vehicle
- 1 x Drive Unlicensed
- 1 x Received stolen property
- 1 x Obtain benefit by deception
- 1 x Unlawfully possess stolen property
- 1 x Unlawful entry – Dwelling
- 1 x Damage to property
- 1 x Stealing
He was refused bail and appeared before court on 4 February, where he remanded in custody until 18 February.
