A police officer has sustained significant injuries following an incident in Torquay this afternoon.
Police attended an address in Golden Beach Way about 4.30pm along with another agency to conduct a welfare check on a resident.
Upon arrival, a 49-year-old man allegedly rushed at police officers with a knife.
Police deployed a taser an OC spray however one member was stabbed a number of times.
The male police officer is receiving treatment in hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
The 49-year-old has been arrested and is currently assisting police with their enquires
