Police have seized drugs and weapons during a proactive operation conducted in the State’s south yesterday.
As part of Operation Shred, the Snowy Valleys Sector Proactive Team – with assistance of officers from Tumut Police Station, the Rural Crime Prevention Team, Southern Region Enforcement Squad, Riverina Target Action Group, and Dog Squad – executed search warrants at two homes in Tumut yesterday (Friday 20 December 2019).
Upon searching a home on Kirra Street, officers allegedly located cannabis.
At a home on Lambie Street, officers allegedly located and seized methamphetamine, ecstasy, LSD, cannabis, prohibited weapons such as butterfly and zombie knives, tasers and a suspected stolen bicycle and LED driving light bars.
Riverina Police District’s Detective Chief Inspector Stephen Radford said this operation was a successful effort for the combined team.
“These are great results from our local Snowy Valleys Policing Team working with a range of specialist resources.
“Operation Shred is a proactive operation looking at drug and firearms related crime in our towns and we will continue to investigate any incidents to keep our streets safe.
“If you know something, say something. The Riverina Police District is focused on proactive police work and continuing to achieve great results in the name of public safety and getting criminals off the street.”
