Forensic Crash Unit officers are investigating a fatal two-vehicle traffic crash at Hay Point today.
Initial investigations indicate just after midday a car was travelling west on Hay Point Road when it collided with a small truck travelling in the opposite direction.
The driver of the car, a 40-year-old local woman, died at the scene.
A one-year-old child, who was a passenger in the car, has been transported to the Mackay Base Hospital with serious head injuries.
The driver of the Isuzu light truck, a local man in his 50s, was also transported to the Mackay Base Hospital with serious injuries.
Investigations are continuing.
