Just after 6pm last night, a Ford Territory was travelling south along the Bruce Highway when it crossed to the opposite side of the road and collided with a Nissan Navara.
The Ford Territory caught fire as a result of the collision and a 30-year-old East Mackay man died on scene. He was the sole occupant of the car.
Three occupants of the Nissan Navara, a 21-year-old man and two women aged 17 and 20, were transported to hospital with serious non-life-threatening injuries.
Officers from the Forensic Crash Unit are investigating and are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash to come forward.
