Homicide Squad detectives are today releasing images of a male witness they are looking to identify as part of their investigation into the death of a man in Bellfield last month.
Emergency services were initially called to a Davidson Street apartment shortly before 11.30am on 23 October.
The body of a 29-year-old Bellfield man was located inside the premises.
A 54-year-old Tarneit man was arrested shortly after and subsequently charged with murder.
He was remanded in custody and will re-appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 16 January, 2025.
Detectives are today releasing images of a man they believe spoke to the 54-year-old man shortly before the fatal incident occurred.
Investigators believe this man spoke with the 54-year-old man in the vicinity of the Ford Park sports ground in Bellfield.
The man was not involved in the incident in any way and is being treated as a witness only.
Despite significant enquiries over the past few weeks, detectives have been unable to identify him.
On the night he was wearing a black t-shirt, green shorts, a black cap, black and white striped slides and had some type of blue cast or bandage on his calf.
Police are keen to speak to anyone who may recognise the man and has information about his identity, and are also asking the man himself to come forward.
Anyone with information about the man is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report online at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
