Police are appealing for public assistance to help locate a 13-year-old girl missing from Goondiwindi since yesterday afternoon, Thursday March 6.
The girl (pictured) was dropped off at Marshall Street around 2.30pm and is believed to have had a swim in the Macintyre River in the vicinity of Elizabeth Drive with plans to return home around 5.30pm.
She has not made contact with friends or family since and police hold concerns for her welfare due to her young age and because her disappearance is out of character.
Police searched the banks of the river extensively throughout the night, but failed to locate the girl,.
A search and rescue operation will begin at first light. Boaties and other recreational river users are asked to report any sightings of the girl immediately.
She is Caucasian, approximately 160cm tall with a proportionate build with long light brown hair and hazel eyes.
She was last seen wearing a black t-shirt with colourful motif, black pants including white detail and white runners. She was earlier seen carrying a black and grey backpack.
Police appeal to the girl or anyone with information regarding her whereabouts to contact them.
