Quotes attributable to Detective Senior Sergeant Paul Shortis, Shepparton CIU:
“This was a significantly violent incident, which has left one man in hospital fighting for his life.
“Local detectives have been working with Homicide Squad investigators over the past week to try and locate those involved and determine why the incident occurred.
“It’s our belief it is likely to be some kind of targeted incident, however the reasons for that are still unclear.
“It also appears that nothing was stolen from the property on the night.
“We are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the group in Sidney Court on the night or noticed any suspicious activity in the area in the days leading up to the incidents.
“Police are also trying to piece together the movements of the group after they ran into Vibert Reserve after the assault took place.
“There was a significant amount of blood at the scene so we believe it’s likely that those involved were wearing blood stained clothing.
“If anyone did see the group, or has any CCTV or dash-cam footage, then I urge you to come forward and contact police or Crime Stoppers.”
