Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for witnesses to a fatal collision in Mentone this morning.
Investigators have been told a woman was crossing Warrigal Road when she was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Oak Street about 10.30am.
The 80-year-old Cheltenham woman was taken to hospital with life threatening injuries but died in hospital.
The driver of the Hyundai, a 53-year-old Cheltenham woman who stopped at the scene, was interviewed by Police and was released without charge.
The investigation remains ongoing.
