Police have charged a 28-year-old woman with drug trafficking and seized almost $1 million of illicit drugs and cash following an investigation into alleged methylamphetamine trafficking in the Port Melbourne area.
The investigation, which commenced in August, culminated at 8am yesterday when detectives from the Prahran Divisional Response Unit raided an apartment and storage facility in Port Melbourne.
During a search of an apartment and storage unit on Plummer Street, Port Melbourne, police located and seized:
• Approximately 1.09kg of methylamphetamine with an estimated potential street value of $327,000
• Approximately 130g of cocaine with an estimated potential street value of $52,000
• Almost 40g of MDMA with an estimated potential street value of $12,000.
• Loaded handgun
• Around $520,000 in cash
• Cash counting machine
• Electronic devices
• Ten allegedly fraudulent drivers’ licences
• Equipment to manufacture fraudulent identification.
A 28-year-old Port Melbourne woman was arrested at the apartment and has been charged with eight offences, including:
• Traffick large commercial quantity of methylamphetamine
• Traffick cocaine and MDMA
• Possess methylamphetamine, cocaine, MDMA and unregistered handgun
• Deal with property suspected proceeds of crime
• Fail to provide passcode to phone
• Make false document
She appeared in Melbourne Magistrates’ Court today where she was remanded to reappear on 9 January 2024.
