Police seize two stolen cars in Safety Beach

Mornington Peninsula Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged a teenager after they located two allegedly stolen vehicles at a Safety Beach home yesterday.

Officers from Rosebud were travelling westbound on Point Nepean Road when they observed a VW Golf without registration plates on Thursday 2 March about 4.45am.

The driver allegedly sped off from police before officers later found the same VW Golf parked in front of a residential address while patrolling.

After searching the property, officers found a Mazda that had allegedly been stolen in an aggravated burglary in Cranbourne on 25 February. It is alleged the car was used in a petrol drive off in Officer.

Police also found a Mini Cooper that had allegedly been stolen in an aggravated burglary in Balwyn North on 27 February.

A 15-year-old boy, who was arrested at the Safety Beach property, has been charged with:

• aggravated burglary (x2)

• theft of a motor vehicle (x3)

He has been bailed to appear before a children’s court at a later date.
