Police conducted more than 2500 random breath tests during a targeted road safety operation at the conclusion of Party In The Paddock on Monday morning.
Officers spent nearly seven hours on Oaks Road at Carrick targeting patrons leaving the four-day festival.
The results –
- 2500 RBTs
- 32 Oral Fluid Tests
- 14 drink drivers (including one P-Plater)
- 8 drug drivers
- 5 people not wearing a seatbelt
- 8 P-Platers not displaying their plates
- 1 unlicensed driver
Inspector Nick Clark said patrons had overall been well behaved during the festival, with no formal reports to police of any assaults or other inappropriate behaviour.
Members of the Northern and Western Dog Handler units, as well as police from Central North and Launceston Uniform divisions as well as police drone operators assisted the Northern Drugs and Firearms Unit during the event.
The results –
- 35 people searched
- 20 vehicles searched
- 3 drug cautions for small quantities of ecstasy and speed
A campsite search led to the arrest of a 21-year-old George Town man who was later charged with major trafficking and other drug offences.
During that search police located large quantities of speed and ecstasy in a vehicle.
The George Town man was bailed to appear in the Launceston Magistrates Court on April 4.
