A man has been charged with child exploitation and grooming offences after his identity was discovered following a police investigation.
On Tuesday 8 October 2019, police were alerted to a possible child grooming offence committed via an account on an online dating service.
Officers attached to Parramatta Police Area Command commenced an investigation and with assistance from other agencies, identified the alleged user of the account.
At 8.55am yesterday (Friday 1 November 2019), officers attached to the South West Metropolitan Region special tactical resource team executed a search warrant at a home in Chemsford Street, South Wentworthville.
Upon searching the home, officers located and seized a computer, a tablet and numerous mobile phones.
A 31-year-old man was arrested and taken to Parramatta Police Station.
Police will allege in court that the mobile phone contained child abuse material and conversations relating to child exploitation and grooming.
He was charged with use carriage service to plan etc sexual act with person under 16 years of age, two counts of use carriage service to menace/harass/offend, two counts of produce child abuse material, use carriage service to plan etc sexual act with person under 16 years of age, and possess child abuse material.
The South Wentworthville man was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court today (Saturday 2 November 2019).
