Detectives from the Cairns Child Protection Unit have charged a total of four teenagers following a grievous bodily harm incident in Cairns North on Saturday, October 19.
It will be alleged just after 4pm, a rock was thrown through a train window near the James and Law Street intersection, striking a 5-year-old boy in the head.
The child was initially taken to Cairns Hospital with serious injuries and was subsequently transported to the Townsville University Hospital on October 20.
He has since been discharged.
Two 14-year-old boys were arrested on October 21, another two 14-year-old boys were arrested on October 23.
All four have been charged with one count of endangering the safety of a person in a vehicle with intent.
The 14-year-old Cairns North boy was remanded in custody and is due to reappear in the Cairns Childrens Court on November 5.
The 14-year-old Mooroobool boy is expected to reappear in the Cairns Childrens Court on November 28.
The other 14-year-old Cairns North boy and 14-year-old Earlville boy were remanded in custody to appear in the Cairns Childrens Court today, October 24.
Investigations are ongoing.
