Police update 2: Images released, homicide investigation at , QLD

Gold Coast detectives investigating the death of a 17-year-old Parkwood boy at Surfers Paradise last night have released images of three males who may be able to assist with their investigation.

All three are described as of Islander appearance, with short black hair and possibly aged in their late teens.

Police would urge all three males to immediately contact them (details below).

Anyone who recognises them or has any information in relation to their current whereabouts is urged to contact police.

If sighted, please do not approach but immediately contact police.

Update 1: Homicide investigation, Surfers Paradise

Gold Coast detectives investigating the death of a 17-yer-old boy in Surfers Paradise last night continue to appeal for witnesses.

Initial investigations indicate that at around 8.10pm an altercation occurred between two groups of youths, on the footpath of Surfers Paradise Boulevard, between Hanlon and Trickett streets.

During the altercation, two 17-year-old boys from one group, were stabbed in the chest.

Both were transported to the Gold Coast University Hospital where a 17-year-old boy from Parkwood passed away.

A 17-year-old Pacific Pines boy remains in hospital receiving treatment to a stab wound to his chest and back.

The fight between the two groups, who were unknown to each other, quickly dispersed with police investigations underway to determine what sparked the altercation.

The incident involved around 12 youths and no one else was injured.

Police have spoken to a number of teens from both groups and are still to speak to several others.

Police are appealing for those involved, who have not spoken to police, to immediately contact them.

Police are also appealing for witnesses or anyone with information which could assist with this investigation to come forward. Detectives would also like to view any vision (such as mobile phone) that members of the public may have taken of the incident.

An Incident Centre has been established at Surfers Paradise Police Station with local detectives, specialist police and detectives from the Homicide Investigation Group.
