Four men have been charged following the theft of a service firearm from a Townsville City address on Sunday, November 24.
It will be alleged, around 3.10am, four men attended a secure apartment complex on Wills Street in a silver Holden Commodore with false number plates. The men gained entry into the complex parking bay allegedly breaking into five parked vehicles, including an unmarked police vehicle.
The offenders also allegedly gained access to a police-issued firearm and ammunition that were secured at the location and stole a black BMW from the carpark.
It will be further alleged the offenders fled the scene in the BWM and the Holden Commodore they originally attended in.
Investigators executed search warrants across areas in the Townsville district resulting in four men being taken into custody.
A 40-year-old Burdell man has been charged with six counts each of enter premises and commit, two counts each of unlawful possession of weapons category D/H/R, and one count each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, possession of dangerous drugs (cannabis), and possession of drug utensils.
A 24-year-old Burdell man has been charged with nine counts each of enter premises and commit, five counts each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, two counts each of enter dwelling and commit, and one count each of stealing, attempted enter dwelling with intent and unlawful possession of weapons category D/H/R.
A 25-year-old Mount Louisa man has been charged with five counts each of enter premises and commit, two counts each of enter premises with intent to commit, and one count each of unlawful possession of weapons category D/H/R and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
It will be alleged an 18-year-old Vincent man was involved in a armed robbery at a Douglas address overnight on Sunday November 24.
An 18-year-old Vincent man has been charged with seven counts each of enter premises and commit, two counts each of enter premises with intent to commit and one count each of unlawful possession of weapons category D/H/R and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
All four men are due to appear before the Townsville Magistrates Court today, November 26.
Investigations are continuing to locate the service firearm and ammunition, anyone with information is urged to contact police.
