Police are continuing investigations into offences committed in Aurukun, following the homicide of a 37-year-old man on New Year’s Day.
Investigators have now charged 23 people with 79 offences in Aurukun after rioting in the town.
Those charges relate to six houses being set on fire, two other houses being extensively damaged and other offences.
Twelve people have been charged with arson.
Those arrested are due to appear in the Aurukun and Cairns Magistrates courts on a range of dates between January and April 2020.
Police continue to collaborate with community leaders and elders in the Aurukun community along with government and non-government agencies to improve safety and security in the town.
