Police update: Armed Robbery in Ashmore, QLD

Gold Coast detectives have charged two people following the armed robbery of an Ashmore tavern on Wednesday (November 2).

It will be alleged that around 3.40am, two men forced entry to the Cotlew Street business by smashing a glass door.

The men allegedly threatened three employees – a 42-year-old man, a 34-year-old man and a 37-year-old woman – with a firearm, forcing them into a disabled toilet where they were restrained.

The pair then allegedly stole a significant amount of cash before running from the building through the carpark.

Police immediately attended the scene and the Dog Squad was deployed to track the pair.

While the men could not be located, officers did locate a stolen white 2001 Isuzu NQR Series truck abandoned in a nearby carpark.

Following subsequent investigations, detectives arrested two people at a shopping centre in Maroochydore around 6:00pm that evening (Wednesday November 2).
