A resolution has been reached following a reported child approach in Sydney’s east over the weekend.
About 6.25pm yesterday (Sunday 19 August 2024), a four-year-old girl was outside a store in a shopping centre on Bunnerong Road, Eastgardens, when she was approached by an unknown female, who picked her up and carried her to another shop, before the woman was intercepted by the child’s mother.
The woman then walked away from the child and her mother, who called police.
Officers attached to Eastern Beaches Police Area Command attended the scene and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Following inquiries, a 16-year-old girl was spoken to by police today (Monday 19 August 2024) about the matter.
Investigators are satisfied that no offence was committed, and no further police action is required.
Police would like to thank the media and the public for their assistance.
