Two men have been charged after a man sustained critical injuries during an alleged assault in Fortitude Valley last night.
It will be alleged two men were walking along on Water Street when they became involved in a verbal altercation with two unknown male occupants of a nearby apartment block around 8.45pm.
It is further alleged that the two men from the apartment block, one armed with a crow bar, then came downstairs and confronted the other two men on Trinity Street.
A further verbal altercation took place before a man from the apartment allegedly punched one of the other men, causing him to fall and hit his head on the ground.
Police attended the scene a short time later and arrested a 28-year-old man. A 29-year-old man was located at a nearby unit complex and also taken into custody.
The alleged victim, a 37-year-old Fortitude Valley man, sustained life-threatening injuries as a result of the altercation and was transported to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a critical condition.
A 29-year-old Logan Central man has since been charged with grievous bodily harm and 28-year-old Fortitude Valley man charged with going armed so as to cause fear and two counts of common assault.
Both are due to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court today (November 4).
