Police update: Shots fired at Harristown, QLD

Police investigations are continuing into a firearm incident at Harristown yesterday.

Further investigations indicate that at approximately 2pm a firearm was pointed at officers at close proximity, by the occupant of a Mitsubishi SUV.

The two officers discharged their firearms, with two shots fired.

A 39-year-old man believed to be connected to the incident has been identified.

The man who is known to police remains outstanding and investigations are continuing as to his location.

Toowoomba detectives are urging the man, or anyone who may know his whereabouts, to come forward.

Darling Downs District Inspector Felix Faria said police have not identified any ongoing risk to the public.

“We do not believe that members of the public have anything to fear,” Inspector Faria said.

“Any incident involving firearms is of significant concern and will be investigated with top priority.”

Investigators are appealing for anyone with information, dashcam footage, or may have seen anything in the area surrounding Dempsey Street yesterday afternoon to contact police.

The matter is being investigated by the Ethical Standards Command, with oversight from the Crime and Corruption Commission.
