Forensic examinations into human remains located at Alderley on Wednesday (December 7) have determined the deceased to be female.
At approximately 10.45am members of the public located the human remains under an Alderley Avenue unit complex.
A crime scene was declared with scenes of crime and scientific officers conducting forensic examinations.
Detectives from Hendra Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) and the Homicide Unit have established Operation Uniform Pepperina to investigate the circumstances around the female’s death.
Forensic samples taken from the scene have been sent for urgent testing, including fingerprint analysis from a number of items located.
The post mortem is continuing today, while the examination of the crime scene is expected to be finalised this afternoon.
Detectives are continuing the review of various missing persons reports.
There is no further information available at this stage, with extensive scientific analyses expected to be protracted in nature.
Police urge anyone with information that may assist investigations to come forward.
